Slackbot
Slack's AI agent: answers questions, drafts content and works with connected apps
Slack: "By default, all members of a workspace or Enterprise organisation can use Slackbot." It answers from what each person can see in Slack, drafts content such as a blog post, summarises past conversations, and can reach Salesforce, installed apps and enterprise search sources.
Conversation summaries
summarises a channel, direct message or thread
Slack: "Whether you’re joining a new channel, returning from time off or catching up on a fast-moving discussion, AI can summarise conversations in seconds." Slack: "You can summarise just your unread messages, the last seven days or a custom date range (desktop only)."
Recaps
a daily AI summary of channels you want to follow without reading them
Slack: "With recaps, you can get automated daily summaries for channels that you’re interested in keeping tabs on, but don’t want to interrupt you throughout your workday." Slack also suggests channels to include, based on ones a person visits often but rarely takes part in.
Huddle notes
AI notes and a transcript of a Slack huddle, shared in the channel
Slack: "By default, someone in a huddle needs to turn AI notes on." Members can set AI notes to start automatically for all huddles in a channel, and everyone in the huddle is told when notes start or stop. The notes, with the transcript embedded, are shared in a canvas that anyone in the channel can read.
Search answers
and automatic search filters: answers questions in search from Slack messages and files, with sources
Slack: "Ask a question in your own words and get a concise answer based on relevant information in Slack, rather than sifting through search results." Slack: "Answers include citations that refer to the source messages or files that informed them." Slack AI also turns plain-language searches into search filters automatically.
Enterprise search
searches and answers from other apps your organisation connects, such as Google Drive and GitHub
Slack: "With enterprise search, you can quickly find information and get answers to questions from all of the apps that your organisation uses (like Google Drive, GitHub and more), right in Slack." An org owner or admin must turn it on and connect data sources; each member then connects their own accounts. Results also feed AI answers and Slackbot.
File summaries
summarises PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel files shared in Slack
Slack: "When you share certain text-based files (.pdf, .docx, .pptx and .xlsx) in channels or DMs, Slack will automatically summarise the file." Each person can turn file summaries off in their own preferences.
Translations
translates messages into the language you choose
Slack: "Use AI to translate messages in Slack that are written in another language." Slack: "Translations are only visible to you, so other people will always see the original message."
Workflow automation
and AI workflow steps: builds workflows from a prompt, and workflows that answer questions and summarise channels
Slack builds a workflow from a plain-language request, which a person then customises and publishes. Slack: "With AI workflow steps, you can create workflows that automatically respond to questions and summarise channels."
Canvas content generation
writes and edits canvases from your Slack conversations
Slack: "Turn your Slack conversations into structured, shareable content by using AI to create or edit a canvas." AI can draw on the conversations and files the person can access. Slack: "Additionally, owners and admins can disable access to AI features, so canvas writing assistance may be turned off for your workspace or Enterprise organisation."
