A general-purpose assistant that does whatever a user asks of it rather than one fixed job: it answers questions, drafts, rewrites and summarises content, translates and reasons through problems. OpenAI: "It understands natural language and can follow complex instructions, remember previous turns in a conversation, and adapt its responses to context." Depending on the organisation's settings it can also search the web, run deep research, read uploaded files, analyse data, create and edit images, talk by voice, remember facts across chats, run scheduled tasks on its own, and let staff build their own custom GPTs.
