Runway models
the AI models in Runway’s creative tools, and the apps, Workflows and plugins that use them
Runway’s creative suite generates and edits video, images and audio with image, video, audio, editing and language models, such as Gen-4.5, from a prompt or uploaded media. The same suite includes ready-made apps such as Upscale Video, Remove from Video, Reshoot Product, Add Dialogue, Add Performance, Change Backdrop, Change Time of Day and Relight Scene, node-based Workflows that chain several models together, and plugins for Premiere Pro and After Effects. Models from other companies have their own row, with an admin switch for each.

Third-party models
models from other AI companies, such as Seedance and Kling, used inside Runway
Gives access inside Runway to selected models from other AI providers, such as the Seedance and Kling models, alongside Runway’s own. An enabled third-party model can be picked by a user, and a Runway feature can also use it as part of its own processing; when a model is turned off, no data goes to that provider and some features may work less well. Runway says every provider has agreed by contract not to train on customer inputs or outputs.

Runway Agent
a chat-based AI agent that plans and produces whole creative projects
A chat-based agent that looks at what the user gives it and plans and produces whole projects: images, video, audio, music, voiceover, scripts and edits, choosing a model for each step. By default it generates straight after planning each step; a user can set it to show the plan and wait for approval first. It runs on a language model the user picks, and Runway warns that it can make mistakes.

Runway Ads
Agent creates and varies ads from your ad accounts’ results, for approval and publishing
Connects a company’s Meta, TikTok and Google Ads accounts and has Runway’s Agent create new ads and variations, using the campaigns’ performance data and a brand kit. New creative lands on a review page where an admin approves it or asks for changes; once approved, an admin can publish it to a connected ad account, where it is created paused. It comes with every paid plan, and on Enterprise it is on in every workspace by default.

App Studio
an agent that builds custom creative apps from a plain-language description
Builds a custom app inside Runway from a plain-language description: App Studio’s agent plans, designs and builds it while the user watches, and every generation step in the app runs on a model that can be swapped. A published app is open to everyone in the workspace by default, and it can reach the internet unless a workspace setting turns that off.

Runway Characters
real-time talking AI avatars made from one image
Real-time conversational avatars, powered by AI, made from one uploaded image, a preset or generated voice and written instructions for personality and knowledge; they respond to what the user says through the microphone. In the web app conversations last up to two minutes and are meant for testing, while production use goes through the Runway API, with longer conversations and a knowledge base. A conversation can be downloaded afterwards as a video or a transcript.

Custom voice
a copy of a real person’s voice, made from a recording, for speech generated from text
Clones a voice from a recording made in the app or an uploaded clip, so any script can be spoken in that voice without recording it; a model can also generate a new voice from a description instead. The user ticks a box to confirm they have the rights, and Runway allows another person’s voice only with that person’s explicit permission. A custom voice is private to its creator until shared; custom voices are on Pro plans and higher.
